The Jesus of Alternative Medicine

June 21, 2010
Reiki, Therapeutic Touch and Healing Touch

Like all counterfeits, toxic Alternative Therapies acknowledge the existence of Jesus Christ. However, the Christ of Alternative Medicine is not the Jesus of the Bible. Believes need to be wary of anything that smaks of Christianity yet has the odor of death about it.

Reiki acknowledges the existence of Jesus but deny the reality of His efficacy. Dr. Mikao Usui began life as a Buddist but had a  conversion experience of some sort with Christ. He even rose to the rank of a Bible College Professor before apostatizing from the faith and returning to his Buddhist roots. His problem . . . he could not discover the healing power of the Jesus of the Gospels. Lusting after the power of Christ, he failed to pursue the person of Christ. In the end, he did find a source of healing power but it was only a mock version of the reality of the healing power of the Holy Spirit.

The Jesus of Therapeutic Touch is also a cheap imitation of the Jesus of the Bible. Therapeutic Touch synergizes the Jesus of the Bible with the teachings of Hinduism and the cult of Theosophy. The syncretism (mixing of religious ideas) of its Jesus with Eastern religion, puts Jesus on an equal footing with mere human religious leaders and their thought. Therapeutic Touch breaths the name of Jesus in the same breath as a Buddhist monk or a Hindu holy man dressed in a saffron robe.

Healing Touch is quite possibly most insidious of all toxic Alternative Therapies. It claims to be an extension of the "healing ministry of Jesus", is taught in seminaries, Christian Colleges aand churches. It deceives people into thinking that the gift of healing that itoffers is the same as that of Christs. All the while it teaches a conspectus of courses replete with New Age Teaching, Theosophical ruminations and Eastern religious practices.

As a Church, we must be wary of the tricks and deceit being used by Alternative Therapies. Don't be deceived. The best way not to be deceived is by knowing God's Word and studying it faithfully. Never let the Jesus of Alternative Therapies become the Jesus you serve.

The Absence of God

There are many central doctrines representing the core of Buddhist teaching. Some of these are the belief in reincarnation, the necessity of continual growth in karma ( good works ) in order to nullify the inherent evil present within each person. There is the ceaseless need to meditate in order to find Enlightenment and become one with the Buddha and finally, the promise to reach Nirvana (nothingness) and the annihilation of the soul.

There is no God in Buddhism, He is absen...

Scriptural Methods for Healing

Reiki, Therapeutic Touch and Healing Touch all offer alternative ways to experience healing. What does the Bible say are God's method's for healing?

It has been noticed, in relation to other spiritual experiences, that God is a God of variety. His methods are not stereotyped by any means. This is true also in relation to the manner in which Divine Healing is administered. The following are six different ways in which people receive healing from the Lord.
