The world of health care continues to change at a frantic pace. Every discipline across-the-board is struggling to keep up with the challenges that are constantly multiplying. More than any other industry, health care is setting a new pace for rapid redevelopment. Nurses, physicians, health care professionals, patients and politicians falter in the never-ending cycle of health care reform, insurance deductibles and co-pays and Medicare.
Into this erratic scene calling health care, dawns forms of treatment that people are called alternative therapies. Alternative therapies are low cost, seemingly effective in helping patients relax and promise to speed the healing process. They are patient centered, outcome oriented and many require little or no training.
However, who will implement these new therapies? Registered Nurses have the most patient contact and greatest access. They are compassionate and want to see their patients find relief from their pain. Who better to implement these new therapies than the bedside nurse? Little do the nurses or anyone else realize that many of these new therapies are based in spiritual practices contrary to Christianity? No one suspects that some of these modalities may be ways of opening doors to Eastern religion and the occult.
